Yes, I know I spelt Mclaren, uh, I mean Maclaren wrong.
But, as it seems, there are a great many folk that do spell it wrong when they search for Maclaren baby strollers and I wanted to make sure those that did found my blog.
Fair enough. Also, my beloved stroller took a hit lately.
A voluntary mass recall of over one million Maclaren baby strollers because a problem with the hinge mechanism has cut off a dozen or so little fingers... oouch!
12 finger tips out of 10 million available fingers (number of strollers sold times number of little fingers) is not too bad, car doors crush and break many times more, but any loss of an appendage is gonna raise a few red flags and the problem must be, and has been, quickly corrected.
Note: These finger tip losses happened when the child was opening or closing the stroller on their own and got their finger caught in the hinge. Don't let your child open or pack away their own stroller and don't let them take themselves out for a walk alone either!
The company has made it right and sent out kits to correct the problem so stroll on baby! Please, as with any product that your child uses, read the instructions! The latch is completely safe when engaged properly by an adult.
Maclaren's biggest strength, ease and quickness with which the stroller can be opened and closed, increased the odds of this type of thing happening. Go figure, the first stroller I ever purchased took an engineering degree and two grown adults to get it to fold up! Essentially, it was child proof!
But then again, so are aspirin bottles and the rear window in my car that only goes half way down, both of which have significantly lowered mine, and countless other grown-ups quality of life.
In a world of increasing litagation and goverment interaction to protect it's people, it will only be a matter of time before we need a liscense for these little buggys and yearly safety inspections too, so fear not!
Now, my other purpose for this blog is to talk about my experience with the Maclaren baby stroller. If you want me to keep spelling it Mclaren baby stroller, I will. I hate typing and one less letter would help me get through this a bit quicker!
Anyway, I absolutely love this stroller but was not going to buy it because I originaly thought it cost too much. However, I did the research and my annoying sister, who planted the idea of just having to get this little baby, finally talked me into it.
I power walk at the mall and if you want to look good and have the other moms drooling with envy, a Maclaren baby stroller is the only way to go.
Aside from its slick look and well know name, the darn thing is really practical! It is lightweight and compact and handles like a dream! Maybe why the Maclaren company references sporty cars in its baby stroller models like the Triumph, the Volo, the Quest and the TechnoXT.
Although I don't think it is an accident that the stroller group's marketing team has led many to believe the association exists. Hey, men do sometimes have a buying decision in these sort of matters!
Both modes of transportation are pretty hot in my opinion!
And as lightweight and portable as these strollers are, they drive like an absolute dream and take those sharp mall corners like no bodies business!
In fact, this stroller is soley responsible for the name of a column I write for an online magazine.
As a busy mom of four kids, I've been through my fair share of strollers and stroller moments so I call my popular column... "Stroller Derby".
